Palden Bhutia had already tried the manual route once — hunting down professors and sending cold emails himself. This time he built a Muse agent named Scout and gave it a clear brief: find research opportunities in semiconductors and AI hardware, identify the right professors, and draft personalized outreach emails using his resume and transcript. Within minutes Scout came back with seven professors and tailored drafts. At 7 the next morning, driving, he got the notification: one professor had replied and invited him to talk. He went to the professor's quantum computing and semiconductor meeting — skipping class for it — and three weeks later he had a formal research position for the next semester. In the reel he offers to share his original prompt with anyone who comments "MUSE".
The winning brief was specific: a field, a target list, his real resume and transcript, and a deliverable (drafts). Disclosure: this reel is co-authored with Meta's official @muse account.
